More than 250 new coronavirus cases detected in the Anglia region

The number of confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the Anglia region has passed 12,000 since the start of the pandemic.

There were a further 258 positive tests in the region on Friday, an increase of 2% on the previous day. The total is 12,019.

In the past fortnight, the rise in confirmed cases has halved. Last week, the average daily rise in positive Covid-19 tests in the Anglia region was 2% and the previous week it had been 4%.

However there are still parts of the region where the number of new cases is growing faster than in other areas.

There was a 10% daily rise in cases on Friday in Peterborough, contributing to an overall 6% rise in Cambridgeshire. Bedfordshire also saw a 4% rise in new cases between Thursday and Friday.

  • Bedfordshire - 1,560 cases (up 58 since yesterday)

  • Cambridgeshire - 999 cases (up 53 since yesterday)

  • Essex - 3,112 cases (up 37 since yesterday)

  • Hertfordshire - 2,271 cases (up 28 since yesterday)

  • Milton Keynes - 451 cases (up 3 since yesterday)

  • Norfolk - 1,524 cases (up 17 since yesterday)

  • Northamptonshire - 1,036 cases (up 17 since yesterday)

  • Rutland - 20 cases (unchanged since yesterday)

  • Suffolk - 1,046 cases (up 19 since yesterday)

The Bedfordshire figures are the local authorities of Bedford, Luton and Central Bedfordshire combined. Cambridgeshire includes Peterborough and Essex includes Southend and Thurrock.
