A further 50 patients with coronavirus have died in hospitals in the Anglia region

NHS England has reported an additional 50 deaths of patients with coronavirus in the Anglia region taking the total since the start of the outbreak to 2,631.

The number of deaths reported in the region on Thursday was 70 with 64 on Wednesday.

The daily figures released by the NHS do not include people dying in the community, in care homes, in hospices or in their own homes.

When weekly figures for deaths outside hospitals, which were released on Tuesday, are added into the total for the Anglia region, the death toll in the area is more than 3,300.

There was nine more deaths announced at the two main hospitals in Northamptonshire with four more than Kettering General and five more at Northampton General.

Southend Hospital in Essex reported a further four more patients had died with coronavirus taking the total there to 147.

There were six more patients who died in the East of England who did not have a positive test for Covid-19 but the condition was specified on the death certificate.
