A further 66 hospital patients died with coronavirus in the Anglia region
The latest daily figures released by NHS England have revealed that a further 66 hospital patients have died with Covid-19 in the Anglia region.
The total number of deaths of hospital patients in the area since the start of the pandemic is now 2,697.
The number of deaths reported in the region on Friday was 50 with 70 on Thursday and 64 on Wednesday.
The daily figure released by NHS England with the statistics for each NHS Trust in the region does not including the numbers of people dying in care homes, hospices and in the community.
When weekly figures for deaths outside hospitals, which were released on Tuesday, are added into the total for the Anglia region, the death toll in the area is more than 3,400.
In Saturday's figures there were 11 more patients who died in the East of England between 28th April and 1st May who did not have a positive test for Covid-19 but the condition was specified on the death certificate.
A further six deaths were recorded at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford bringing the total for the Mid Essex NHS Trust to 153. Southend Hospital also announced an additional six patients dying with Covid-19.
Five more patients died at Bedford Hospital with the total number of deaths there now at 120.
