Covid-19 daily death rate in the Anglia region is the lowest since March
The number of patients dying in hospitals in the Anglia region announced by NHS England on Monday was 41, the lowest daily figure for almost a month.
The total number of hospital deaths across the Anglia region is now 2,371. On Sunday, 51 deaths were announced with 96 on Saturday.
It is possible the figures will rise again on Tuesday as there is sometimes a time lag in the data being processed over the weekend.
The daily figures released by NHS England do not include the people who have died at home, in care homes or in hospices.
New weekly figures on deaths outside hospital covering the period up to 17th April are being released on Tuesday and are expected to show a steep rise.
Northampton General Hospital announced seven people had died between 23rd and 25th April taking the total number of deaths to 140.
There were a further five deaths at Basildon Hospital on 25th and 26th April. The total there is 227.
The East Suffolk and North Essex NHS Trust which runs the two hospitals in Colchester and Ipswich announced an additional nine deaths on Monday.
Across England, a further 329 people, who tested positive Covid-19 have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 18,749.
NHS England said the patients were aged between 29 and 100 years old and 22 of them had no known underlying health condition.
