'This is just what we do': Addenbrooke's Chief Nurse on how they're dealing with coronavirus
The Chief Nurse at Addenbrooke's hospital in Cambridge has been thanking the public for the gifts, cards and financial donations they have been sending the hospital - but is still stressing that the most important thing we can do is adhere to government guidelines and stay at home.
Lorraine Szeremeta has been talking ITV Anglia as part of ITV's NHS Day to celebrate the work of all health service workers.
She said that the weekly clapping of care staff by the public meant a huge amount to all those she worked with, adding that she hoped people would continue to appreciate the NHS once the Covid-19 crisis was over.
She paid tribute to the hard work being undertaken by everyone at the hospital, not just doctors and nurses but all staff including cleaners and porters who help keep Addenbrooke's running.
Ms Szeremeta added that even a few weeks ago few staff would have considered what it would be like to work through a pandemic but said they were rising to the challenge magnificently.
She added: "This is just what we do. It is what we do every day."
More than 500 people have now tested positive for coronavirus in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.
There have been 39 deaths at the Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Trust and a further eight at the Royal Papworth Hospital on the same site.
