Coronavirus daily death toll in the Anglia region above 100 for third consecutive day
The number of hospital patients dying with coronavirus in the Anglia region has reached almost 1,500 with a further 107 deaths recorded on Thursday.
There were 121 deaths announced in the region on Wednesday and there were 106 on Tuesday.
According to figures released by NHS England, covering the period up to 5pm on Wednesday 15 April, a total of 1,498 people infected with Covid-19 have died in hospital units in the Anglia region.
The figures do not include people who lose their lives in care homes, hospices or in their own home.
A pregnant nurse from the Luton & Dunstable Hospital, who had coronavirus, has died after her baby daughter was delivered successfully by emergency Caesarean section.
Tributes have been flooding in for 28-year-old Mary Agyeiwaa Agyapong. The Luton & Dunstable hospital announced 13 additional deaths on Thursday bringing the total there to 89.
Basildon Hospital in Essex has seen 159 patients dying with the illness during the pandemic. There were a further 12 deaths announced there today.
Northampton General Hospital announced 13 additional deaths.
Across England, a further 740 people, who tested positive for the Coronavirus have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 12,396.
The patients were aged between 28 and 103 years old and 40 of themhad no known underlying health condition.

The number of new confirmed cases of coronavirus in the Anglia region rose by 299 to 7,626 on Thursday.
That was an increase of 4% and was the sixth consecutive day where the percentage growth was less than 10%.

The Bedfordshire figures are the local authorities of Bedford, Luton and Central Bedfordshire combined. Cambridgeshire includes Peterborough and Essex includes Southend and Thurrock.
