More than 1,000 coronavirus deaths in hospitals in the Anglia region
More than 1,000 hospital patients have died with coronavirus in hospitals across the Anglia region with a further 91 deaths announced on Sunday.
The total number of deaths in the region is now 1,076 according to figures released by NHS England. They include deaths in hospital up to 5pm on Saturday 11 April but do not included people who have died in care homes or in the community.
The number of deaths of Sunday is larger than the 46 announced on Saturday in the area.
Southend Hospital in Essex announced 28 deaths taking the total there to 79. The patients died between between the 5th and 10th April. There were 13 more deaths announced at Broomfield Hospital in Chelmsford.
The Princess Alexandra Hospital in Harlow has seen 110 patients who have tested positive for Covid-19 died since the outbreak started with 102 deaths at Basildon Hospital.
Across England, a further 657 people have died, bringing the total number of confirmed reported deaths in hospitals in England to 9,594.
NHS England said: "Patients were aged between 26 and 100 years old. 42 of the 657 patients (aged between 30 and 98 years old) had no known underlying health condition."

The rise in confirmed coronavirus in the Anglia region is the lowest for three days with an additional 380 cases reported on Sunday by Public Health England.
There have been 6.338 positive tests for Covid-19 in the region a rise of 6% since Saturday.
Essex is still reporting the most cases in the East of England with a further 115 cases reported on Sunday taking the county total to 1,812.
The largest percentage rise in the number of cases in the Anglia region was in Norfolk where it went up 10% from 539 to 595.
