Storm Dennis: Travel disruption expected for second weekend in a row due to wind and rain

More travel disruption is expected in the East of England with Storm Dennis set to bring gales and heavy rain to the region.

The Met Office have a yellow warning in force across the region, and are warning of wind speeds of 50-70mph.

Last weekend Storm Dennis brought major disruption to train lines and roads.

Roads

The Orwell Bridge in Ipswich closed at 3pm on Saturday, 15 February, according to Highways England.

They say that wind speeds have exceeded the limit needed to close the bridge.

The road is expected to reopen at 9am on Sunday.

Rail

Network Rail have imposed 50mph speed restrictions on the line between King's Lynn and Cambridge from 6pm on Saturday and throughout Sunday.

Great Northern, which operate the route, say a revised timetable will be in place.

LNER, which operates between Peterborough and London King's Cross, say speed restrictions will be in place across their network.

An amended timetable was already due to operate on LNER and Great Northern services between King's Cross and Peterborough, due to planned engineering work in the capital.

Air travel

Several airlines, including Easyjet and Jet2, are warning passengers to check before they fly.
