Storm Ciara flies into the Anglia region

Storm Ciara has swept into the Anglia region causing power cuts, cancelled trains, and havoc on some roads with fallen trees.

The M11 has been closed in both directions between J9 and J10 northbound and J11 and J9 soutbound over fears an aircraft hangar roof at Duxford Imperial War Museum will blow off.

Storm Ciara has been playing havoc in terms of travel elsewhere.

A man was trapped for over an hour in Flitwick in Bedfordshire after a large tree fell on his car. Remarkably he escaped with only minor injuries. Luckily the child seat was empty at the time. Police have praised the fire and ambulance crews for their work in 'atrocious conditions'

Flights in and out of Luton airport are also being significantly affected by Storm Ciara with over 50 percent of scheduled flights being cancelled or delayed by more than half an hour.

Anyone who is due to fly today is asked to check with their airlines.

There is also widespread disruption to rail journeys. Greater Anglia has been asked by Network Rail to run its trains slower meaning many services have had to be cancelled.

In particular, passengers planning to travel between Liverpool Street and Cambridge, Stansted Airport, Chelmsford, and Southend, are being urged to check before heading to the station.
