Flooding avoided at high tide West Norfolk coast

Flooding has been avoided along the West Norfolk coast as high tide passed without any incident.
There had been fears a combination of high spring tides and predicted strong winds would cause flooding to stretches along Hunstanton's seafront, Heacham and Snettisham.
But the wind didn't quite do what was forecast said the Environment Agency which meant the wave action wasn't as bad as it could have been.
The Environment Agency told ITV News Anglia that if the wind had done what was predicted there would have been flooding.

There are more high tides to come this evening and more on Wednesday which the Environment Agency will continue to monitor.
In Hunstanton, flooding was expected around South Beach Road, Seagate Road, the seafront and promenade. In Heacham, North Beach, Jubilee Road and South Beach were due to be affected. And in Snettisham, officials believed the seafront will be flooded.
The Environment Agency says the West Norfolk coast is vulnerable with more than 3,000 properties, mostly caravans at risk.
The majority of properties are below sea level which doesn't leave enough time to act without enough preparation time.
Officials had been carrying out door to door in the areas affected asking people to leave their homes between 7am and 10am today ( 1st October).
