Work on a sinkhole which opened up in Sheringham High Street is expected to be completed by the end of August.

The hole appeared on the 25th May, because of a badly damaged sewer.

Since then, Anglian Water engineers have had to dig eight metres below the road to access the broken pipe.

The road - one of Sheringham's busiest during the summer tourist season - has been closed to traffic since the hole appeared. Initially, access to some businesses was restricted, although all shops on the street can now be accessed by pedestrians.

Several measures have been put in place by the Town Council to try and maintain foot traffic while the road is closed. They include free car parking nearby and signage encouraging people to visit the town centre.
