Sentencing, District Judge Williams described the effect on wildlife as "deadly" and said there was "a risk this could have entered the public water supply."

The sentence was imposed after a judge ruled that the company had no "reasonable excuse" not to comply with instructions from the Environment Agency.

Villagers say their gardens have been regularly flooded with raw sewage, sanitary waste and toilet roll.
