Peterborough United have made their first signings of the summer with the arrivals of defender Mark Beevers and midfielder Serhat Tasdemir.

Experienced centre-back Beevers, 29, joins on a free transfer from Bolton Wanderers and Posh have paid a "substantial six-figure fee" to lure Azerbaijan Under-19 international Tasdemir to the ABAX Stadium from National League side AFC Fylde.

Both players have signed three-year contracts.

Beevers has made more than 400 Football League appearances in his career and has previously played for the likes of Sheffield Wednesday and Millwall.

Posh say that Tasdemir, 18, was being monitored by a "host of Premier League and EFL clubs" after he became the youngest scorer in Fylde's history at the age of just 17.

“Mark (Beevers) was very high on my list in terms of the recruitment this summer. When I assessed the squad in terms of what we felt we needed, not just in terms of their position, but also in terms of their character and what I want from a player, he ticked all of the boxes," manager Darren Ferguson said.

“Serhat (Tasdemir) has got lots of potential. We have been aware of him for a little while and feel that he can develop with us here at Peterborough."

Henry is the club's record appearance holder having featured in 502 games for Stevenage across 13 seasons.

Cambridge United defender Brad Halliday has joined League One side Doncaster Rovers on a free transfer, and winger David Amoo also looks set to leave after rejecting a new contract.
