The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for the risk of some thunderstorms in the Anglia region on Thursday afternoon.

The warning is in force from 2pm until 9pm on Thursday 26 July 2018

The weather warning for Friday's thunderstorms remains in force as has been extended over a wider area of the Anglia region

The Met Office says thunderstorms may break out on Thursday afternoon but many places will remain dry.

What to expect

  • There is a small chance that homes and businesses could be flooded quickly, with damage to some buildings from floodwater, lightning strikes, hail or strong winds

  • There is a slight chance that power cuts could occur and other services to some homes and businesses could be lost

  • Where flooding or lightning strikes occur, there is a chance of delays and some cancellations to train and bus services. Spray and sudden flooding could also lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
