A memorial garden created following the death of a Norwich schoolgirl has been wrecked by vandals.

Seven-year-old Summer Grant died in March 2016 when the bouncy castle she was playing on at a fair in Harlow was swept away by high winds.

An inquest heard she died of multiple injuries.

Valley Primary Academy in Hellesdon said, as well as the damage to the garden, obscene graffiti had been painted on walls.

The school have reported the incident to the police who are reviewing CCTV footage, while Summer's family have been informed.

The memorial was set up for children at the school to have a place to remember Summer, and Assistant Headteacher Stuart Walker says it's hard to understand why the garden was targeted.

"The staff were shocked and saddened by the mindless vandalism of a memorial to a treasured ex-pupil," he said.

A man and a woman from Cambridgeshire who were arrested in connection with Summer's death have been rebailed until next month.
