Teenager accused of Spalding killings 'felt like murdering for quite a while'
A teenager accused of planning the killings of a mother and daughter from Spalding has told police she 'felt like murdering for quite a while'.
The bodies of 49-year-old dinner lady Elizabeth Edwards and her 13-year-old daughter Katie were found at their home in Dawson Avenue in April.
The 15-year-old denies murder, but has admitted manslaughter on the grounds of diminished responsibility.
A boy, also 15, has already pleaded guilty to murder.
In a police interview, the 15-year-old girl told officers her boyfriend "seemed fine" after he stabbed Katie and Elizabeth Edwards to death with a kitchen knife.
Jurors at Nottingham Crown Court were read transcripts of police interviews conducted with the girl, who told detectives she had intended to take her own life after the killings.
She told police she had planned the killings - which started off as a joke with her boyfriend - over several days.
She continued to tell officers "a gun would have been easier but we don't have any really in this country... the knife was a better solution."
The court has heard that the teenage killers shared a bath after the fatalstabbings and watched four films before they were arrested.
