Papers hail 'quiet 23-year-old from Hertfordshire' who became a double Olympic champion

National newspapers have been reacting to Max Whitlock's stunning achievement in Rio after he became the first British gymnast to win a gold medal.

Remarkably, the South Essex gymnast won two golds in the space of two hours - claiming both the floor and pommel titles.

It's the third medal of the games for the 23-year-old, who also won the bronze in the all-around final on Wednesday.
