Granny's punch sees off mugger

Betty Jeffery is a bit of a tough cookie. She contracted polio as a child and now gets around in a mobility scooter.But she's done weightlifting, abseiling, skiing - she's even an arm wrestling champion.So when a mugger tried to snatch her handbag as she was on her way to a funeral in Pitsea they got more than they bargained for.Betty said it all happened so quickly she just did what she felt was right...

The woman did get the bag but dropped it as she ran away. She's described as a young woman who was wearing an olive green jacket with white writing down the side and a fur-lined hood.Anyone with information should contact the police on 101.
