Chief Executive: 'Cambridge United squad were underperforming under Richard Money'
Cambridge United Chief Executive Jez George says that the current squad were "underperforming" under former manager Richard Money.
The 60-year-old was sacked yesterday following a run of just 8 wins in 41 games.
Money was given funds to strengthen his squad in the summer, but leaves the U's in 18th place in League Two.
League Two bottom seven
18.) Cambridge United Pld:16 Pts:20
19.) Hartlepool United Pld:16 Pts:17
20.) Stevenage Pld:16 Pts:14
21.) Newport County Pld:16 Pts:13
22.) York City Pld:16 Pts:12
23.) Yeovil Town Pld:16 Pts:9
24.) Dagenham & Redbridge Pld:16 Pts:9
Despite a poor start to the season, the decision was seen as harsh from some people who felt that Money's achievements should have earned him more time to turn things around.
However, George admits that the board felt that a change was needed to reignite their promotion ambitions.
