Where did it go wrong for Richard Money at Cambridge United?
Richard Money's three-year spell in charge of Cambridge United came to an end on Monday (November 2), with the club deciding that the time was right for a change.
The board put the decision down to Money struggling to get the best out of a squad that has so far "failed to achieve its potential".
Despite today's parting, Money remains one of the most successful U's managers of recent times.
Here's a look back at his time in charge of the club.
Promotion to the Football League
Money was appointed as Cambridge United manager midway through the 2012/13 Conference season and led them to a comfortable mid-table finish.
He was then given licence to rebuild his squad in the summer, and he did so to great effect as the U's got off to a 16-match unbeaten start.
They kept up their form as they headed into the new year, and even managed to lift the FA Trophy for the first time in their history as they beat Gosport Borough at Wembley.
It was their return to Wembley two months later that brought an even bigger prize though.
Money's men saw off Gateshead 2-1 to win promotion to the Football League through the play-offs, thanks to goals from Liam Hughes and Ryan Donaldson.
It meant that Cambridge would be playing fourth tier football for the first time in nine years after a period in the wilderness.
Shocking Manchester United
Money continued to stabilise Cambridge, guiding them to safety by 10 points.
It was their FA Cup run that got people talking though, with the U's holding the mighty Manchester United to a goalless draw at the Abbey Stadium in January.
They were rewarded with a money-spinning replay at Old Trafford where they were backed by more than 5,000 fans.
On the night, they were beaten 3-0 by the Premier League giants although they missed a glorious chance to take the lead when Tom Elliott hit the post in the early stages.
Despite the defeat, the U's had competed admirably and given their supporters a taste of the big time.
Struggling to live up to expectations
With Cambridge improving year-on-year, the board decided to back Money with significant funds in the off-season in the hope that he could push them into the League Two play-offs.
The U's pulled off a coup with the capture of Southend United striker Barry Corr, who'd scored 15 league goals the previous season, while experienced players such as Leon Legge and Mark Roberts were also signed.
That investment looked to be paying off as Cambridge racked up seven points from their opening three games but they soon started to slide down the league.
A 2-1 home defeat to Bristol Rovers turned out to be the final straw for the hierarchy who may feel that a fresh start could reignite their promotion push.
Results have been poor for a while, with the club only picking up eight wins since their cup exit at the Theatre of Dreams back in February.
However, Money could be forgiven for thinking that his achievements should have brought him more time but as we all know, that is a rarity in modern day football.
Who's the favourite to replace him?
Former Sheffield United manager Nigel Clough is the current joint-favourite to take the job, while current caretaker and ex Colchester United boss Joe Dunne is also heavily fancied (all odds courtesy of BetVictor):
Nigel Clough - 4/1
