Teenage darts sensation Luke Littler is one step closer to winning the World Darts Championship title after securing a place in the final for the second year in a row.

The 17-year-old beat Stephen Bunting 6-1 in the semi finals on Thursday.

He will now face three-time PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen in Friday's final in a bid to become the tournaments youngest ever winner.

Last year, Littler suffered a devastating loss to current title holder Luke Humphries, but he now has another chance to win the prestigious trophy.

So when is the final and how can you watch it?

When is the final?

The final is being broadcast on Sky Sports on Friday, 3 January at 8pm.

It is being held at Alexandra Palace in north London, where the tournament has taken place since 2008.

Who will Luke Littler face in the final?

Littler will face three-time PDC World Champion Michael van Gerwen on Friday.

Van Gerwen beat Chris Dobey 6-1 in Thursdays semi-final.

The 35-year-old Dutch player is currently world number three, but was previously ranked number one between 2014 and 2021.

In 2014, Van Gerwen became the youngest player to win the World Championships at the age of 24 - a record which he still holds.

Littler is now looking to claim that title for himself.

What is the format?

The World Championships is a set-play tournament.

The final is the best of 13 sets - the first player to reach seven sets is crowned the winner.

Sets are won by the player who is first to three legs.

The deciding set must be won by at least two legs, and goes to sudden death if there is a draw.

How much is the prize money?

The total prize pot is worth £2.5 million, with a large sum of this going to the winner.

The title holder will win £500,000, as well as the Sid Waddell Trophy.

The runner-up will take home £200,000, semi-finalists will win £100,000 and those that reach the quart-finals will earn £50,000.

Other players will also receive some of the prize money; players who reached the fourth round win £35,000, those in the third round take home £25,000, second round players earn £15,000 and the first round £7,500.

Who is Luke Littler?

Luke 'The Nuke' Littler rose to stardom between December 2023 and January 2024 as he reached the final of the World Darts Championship.

Littler was only 16-years-old at the time and even beat his childhood hero Raymond van Barneveld.

However, he lost the final game to current world number one Luke Humphries.

If Littler were to win this year's World Championships, he would become the youngest ever winner - breaking Michael van Gerwen's record after he won in 2014.

Little has won 10 titles in his first year on the PDC tour, including the Premier League, Grand Slam and World Series of Darts.

To top off an incredible year, he won the BBC Young Sports Personality of the Year award.
