Photos of Northern Lights in Scotland as 'merry dancers' spotted in Orkney, Moray and Isle of Lewis
The sky was lit up in green and purple across some parts of northern Scotland last night.
The stunning Northern Lights display prompted many to grab their cameras to capture the phenomenon.
The "merry dancers" were spotted in areas including Orkney, Moray and the Isle of Lewis.
The Aurora Borealis is a natural display of light caused by interactions between the Earth’s magnetic field, molecules in the atmosphere and the solar wind.
It can be seen around the poles, with the Southern Hemisphere version called aurora australis.
