X Factor: Honey G is saved by judges in sing-off as Ryan Lawrie is sent home
Ryan Lawrie was booted off the X Factor tonight after a tense sing-off with rapper Honey G.
The Scottish singer said he was now throwing his support behind girlfriend Emily Middlemas, who he met during the show.
He said: "I just hope Emily goes on and wins it now."
Lawrie, 20, found himself in the bottom two after his performance of Elvis Presley's Jailhouse Rock for the programme's movie week theme.
Honey G sang a remix of Missy Elliott tracks Get Your Freak On and Work It, which won the votes of judges Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne.
Only Lawrie's mentor Nicole Scherzinger opted to send her packing.
Cowell said he was a fan of both contestants and wanted the vote to go to deadlock, which would mean the decision coming down to the public vote.
There are now just five acts remaining in the competition - Honey G and Finnish hopeful Saara Aalto in Osbourne's over-25s, Matt Terry in Scherzinger's boys category, Middlemas in Cowell's girls category and Walsh's group 5 After Midnight.
The show ended with O'Leary spinning the jukebox to determine the theme for next week and it landed on Louis Loves.
