Trump makes controversial appointments to cabinet
President-elect Donald Trump has made offers to three conservative loyalists and Army veterans to lead his national security and law enforcement teams.
The position of attorney general has been offered to the controversial senator Jeff Sessions, according to news reports.
Retired General Michael Flynn has accepted Trump's offer to serve as National Security adviser and US Representative Mike Pompeo has accepted Trump's offer of CIA Director
A transition official speaking on condition of anonymity said the announcements would be made formally on Friday adding that all three men have accepted the offers.
It comes just days after the announcement that Stephen Bannon - who critics accuse of being a white nationalist and a racially inflammatory propagandist for the website Breitbart - will be the new chief strategist at the White House.
Vice-president-elect Mike Pence was also recently placed at the head of Trump's transition team. A former legislator, he has deep ties in Washington which Mr Trump reportedly wants to use to move the transition process along.
