Serial killer fears after body found near where missing woman was chained like dog

A body has been discovered near where a missing woman was found chained like a dog in a storage container.

US detectives were preparing to make several grisly discoveries after Kala Brown said she feared four bodies were buried near where she was held.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger confirmed one body had so far been located as several sites signalled by police dogs were being excavated on the property in South Carolina.

Miss Brown, 30, was reported missing along with her boyfriend Charlie Carver, 32, in August. He remains missing.

She was found alive on Thursday after police searched convicted sex offender Todd Kohlhepp's property following a tip off about another crime.

Kohlhepp, 45, has been arrested and charged with kidnapping.

Miss Brown was found in a metal storage container measuring about 30ft by 15ft.

Spartanburg County Sheriff Chuck Wright said she had a chain round her neck and told officers she had been there for two months and fed regularly.

Referring to the possibility of other victims, the sheriff said: "We're trying to make sure that we don't have a serial killer on our hands."

Wright said Brown and Kohlhepp knew each other and that her abduction was "not a random act". He did not specify how they were acquainted.

Records indicate Kohlhepp is a licensed estate agent and a licensed pilot.

At 15 years old, Kohlhepp was convicted of kidnapping a 14-year-old girl, taking her to his house and tying up and raping her.

He was put on the sex offender registry as a result of the kidnapping.
