Kim Kardashian sues website over claims she 'faked' robbery

Kim Kardashian is suing a US website for claiming she faked the armed robbery of £8 million worth of her jewellery in Paris.

The reality TV star has filed a defamation lawsuit against celebrity gossip site MediaTakeOut.com - who also alleged she filed a fake insurance claim.

Police are still hunting five men who Kim says forced their way into her luxury apartment and tied her up during the robbery.

Since then Kim - who is married to rapper Kanye West - has stopped filming her family TV show "Keeping Up With the Kardashians" and cancelled other business and social engagements.

The 35-year-old's sister Khloe told chat show host Ellen DeGeneres: "She's not doing that well.

"It's incredibly traumatic what happened to her, but our family is super close and great and we’ll get through it together."

The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages and names both MediaTakeOut.com and its founder Fred Mwangaguhunga as defendants.

Papers state: "After having been the victim of a horrific and traumatic armed robbery in France, Kim Kardashian returned to the United States only to again be victimised, but this time by an online gossip tabloid that published a series of articles in early October 2016 referring to her as a liar and thief."

It said Mwangaguhunga refused to publish a retraction and an apology.

Kim has been criticised for "showing off her wealth" by posting a close-up of her engagement ring on social media three days before the robbery.

And one US company is even selling a Halloween costume called "Parisian Heist Robbery Victim" that is said to depict Kim.
