Marion Cotillard's husband hits out at media over Brad Pitt affair rumours
The husband of Marion Cotillard has hit out at the "venal stupidity" of rumours his wife had become romantically involved with Brad Pitt.
Cotillard herself has already denied rumours of an affair, which have swirled following the announcement that Pitt and Angelian Jolie are seeking a divorce.
Reports claimed the Oscar-winning French actress and Pitt had an affair while filming the upcoming Second World War drama Allied.
Now Cotillard's husband, French actor and director Guillaume Canet, has also addressed the rumours, writing in French on Instagram:
Cotillard and Canet are expecting their second child together. The couple already have a five-year-old son named Marcel.
In her earlier comment on the rumours, Cotillard wrote on Instagram that she had to "speak up" as the rumours had been "spiralling and affecting people I love".
She described Canet as "my love, my best friend, the only one I need", and ended the post: "Finally, I do very much wish that Angelina and Brad, both of whom I deeply respect, will find peace in this tumultuous moment."
Jolie filed for divorce from Pitt on Monday, citing irreconcilable differences and has asked for physical custody of the couple's six children.
