Firefighters battle blaze at high-rise building in Abu Dhabi
Firefighters are battling a blaze that broke out in a high-rise building under construction in Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates.
The nearby Beach Rotana Abu Dhabi hotel said the fire started at 11.15am on Tuesday, and authorities ordered occupants to evacuate the premises 90 minutes later.
There were no reports of any casualties. The Ministry of Interior posted images of thick smoke billowing from the building, and emergency services on the scene.
A number of fires have hit cites in the UAE in recent years. A huge blaze caused damage to a residential tower in the city of Ajman in March, and on New Year's Eve, another fire raged at a luxury hotel next to the world's tallest skyscraper, the Burj Khalifa.
