Donald Trump has said he would create a new "extreme, extreme vetting" test for immigrants.

Outlining his plan to fight "radical Islamic terrorism", the Republican presidential candidate said the US must "screen out anybody with hostile views towards our country or its principles".

Trump said a list would be created of regions where the US would not admit people from.

He said the US would have to temporarily suspend immigration from some of the "most dangerous and volatile regions of the world" that have a history of "exporting terrorism".

He claimed that many recent terror attacks in the US have been carried out by immigrants or the children of immigrants.

"The time is overdue to establish a new screening test for the threats we face today," he said.

Trump said those who "support bigotry or hatred" will "not be admitted" to the US.

He said he would create a commission on "radical Islam" as one of his first acts as president.

Trump previously sparked outrage around the world when he suggested a ban on Muslims entering the US.
