Thousands of BHS staff to be told of redundancies

More than 11,000 BHS workers will be told they face redundancy consultation today as the chain's 114 remaining stores are expected to close over the coming weeks.

Administrator Duff & Phelps has already closed down 20 stores, affecting 580 staff, and will shut a further 30 shops on July 30, affecting another 700 employees.

The affected stores are as follows:

  • Cameron Toll, Edinburgh

  • Carmarthen

  • Chesterfield

  • Crewe

  • Derby

  • Falkirk

  • Gravesend

  • Hamilton

  • Kilmarnock

  • Kirkcaldy

  • Leith

  • Livingston

  • Mansfield

  • MK Stadium

  • Newtownabbey

  • Poole

  • Portsmouth

  • Redditch

  • Rotherham

  • Salisbury

  • Scunthorpe

  • Sheffield Moor

  • Taunton

  • Torquay

  • Weston Super Mare

  • Worthing

All stores will be closed by August 20, following the collapse of the chain in April.

The news comes on the day that a damning parliamentary inquiry branded BHS's ownership under Sir Philip Green as the "unacceptable face of capitalism."

Theresa May has called the report findings "clearly concerning."
