Outgoing FA Chairman Greg Dyke apologises to England fans for early Euro 2016 exit
Greg Dyke, the outgoing FA chairman, has told ITV News that the England camp is "distraught and deeply upset" as he apologised to fans for the team's early Euro 2016 exit.
He said the team had delivered a "really poor performance" in the defeat against minnows Iceland.
Asked for his message to England's fans: "I apologise - we should have done better than that."
But he urged supporters to "keep the faith".
He added: "Obviously everybody is distraught, deeply upset, the players, everyone, as you would be."
He refused to speculate on who might replace Roy Hodgson as the new England manager.
An emotional Hodgson earlier insisted England had a bright future despite the humiliation.
