Two festivals in France have dropped Eagles of Death Metal from their lineups following controversial comments by the band's lead singer.

In a recent interview with Taki Magazine, singer Jesse Hughes reiterated his opinion that the Bataclan venue, where his band performed on November 13th last year, was complicit in the attacks which left 90 people dead.

Speaking to Gavin McInnes, he is alleged to have said: "There's no denying the terrorists were already inside, and they had to get in somehow".

"During the shooting I went outside and the backstage door was propped open. How did that happen?" he added.

Organisers of the Rock En Suite and Cabaret Vert festivals have since cancelled The Eagles of Death Metal and said they were "in total disagreement with Jesse Hughes' recent allegations".

In March, Hughes apologised after making similar accusations, which he called "absurd... unfounded and baseless".

The Bataclan called Hughes' comments at the time "grave and defamatory".
