Man proposes to girlfriend after she hears properly for first time
The moment a man proposed to his girlfriend, as was fitted with a cochlear implant and was able to hear for the first time, has been shared online.
Andrea Diaz had just received the implant - an electronic device that can help people to hear who get little or no benefits from hearing aids - when her boyfriend popped the question.
In a video posted online, Andrea becomes emotional at being able to hear and react to voices, as the device is activated. It is then that her boyfriend Kevin Peakman decided to pop the question.
Kevin Peakman proposes to his girlfriend after her cochlear implant is activated.
In the romantic proposal, he explained that he wanted one of the first things she heard was the proposal.
His girlfriend immediately responds with a "yes".
Cochlear implants are fitted under the skin behind the ear during surgery.
According to the NHS, there are currently around 11,000 people in the UK with cochlear implants and the number is increasing each year.
