MH370: Debris found on French island 'unlikely to be from missing plane'
A second piece of debris washed up on Reunion Island in the Indian Ocean is unlikely to be from Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, officials said.
The piece was discovered by Johnny Begue, the same man who found a wing fragment which turned out to be part of the missing jet.
Begue told The Associated Press he found the latest fragment in almost the same spot as the other piece, known as a flaperon.
But Dan O'Malley, spokesman for Australia's Transport Safety Bureau, said French authorities who examined the recent find said it was "unlikely to be from flight MH370".
The flaperon remains the only confirmed piece of debris from MH370, which disappeared on March 8 2014 with 239 people on board.
Earlier this month, a part which washed up in Mozambique was found to come from a Boeing 777, the same type of plane as MH370.
It will now be sent to Australia for tests to see if it is from the missing jet.
Malaysian Transport Minister Liow Tiong Lai said there is a "high possibility" it is as MH370 is the only missing 777.
