Reunion Island debris confirmed 'with certainty' as being from missing flight MH370

Debris found on Reunion Island has been confirmed as being from missing airliner MH370.

A French prosecutor says that it is "with certainty" that the wing part that washed up on the island in the Indian Ocean was from the plane that went missing last March.

Air accident investigators and the Malaysian prime minister had previously said that they were confident that the wreckage was from a Boeing 777 - the same type of aircraft as the Malaysia Airlines plane.

The two-metre-long wing part was then sent away to be verified.

MH370 took off from Kuala Lumpur in the early hours of 8 March 2014 and was en route to Beijing.

Malaysian air traffic control lost contact with the plane in the early hours of the morning.

The aircraft had 239 people on board.
