'Love you, granddad': David Bowie's son announces he is to become a father with moving Twitter message

David Bowie's son has announced he is to become a father - exactly a month since the singer's death shocked the world.

Film director Duncan Jones shared the news with a moving tweet, accompanied by a picture of a card he made for his dad at Christmas.

It shows a cartoon of a smiling baby in utero, with a speech bubble reading: "I'm waiting."

The accompanying message says: "1 month since dad died today. Made this card for him at Christmas. Due in June. Circle of life. Love you, granddad."

The child, Jones' first with photographer wife Rodene Ronquillo, would have been the pop icon's first grandchild.

Bowie died last month after an 18-month battle with cancer, two days after his 69th birthday and the release of his final album, Blackstar.

He left model wife Iman, their daughter Alexandria Zahra Jones and son Duncan from his first marriage with Angie Bowie.
