Bowie albums flood the charts after news of his death
Classic albums and singles by David Bowie are set to take over the official charts this week as fans mourn the loss of the music icon.
Some 14 Bowie albums and nine singles have entered the top 100 in the Official Albums Charts after a sales flash following news of his death.
His latest album Blackstar, released on his 69th birthday last Friday just two days before his death, was already heading for Number One before news of his death broke, the Official Charts company said in a statement.
The album continues to lead the way with just under 90,000 combined sales so far today.
Meanwhile, 13 other Bowie albums are set to re-enter the Top 100, six of which have broken into the Top 40 already based on sales up to midnight last night.
Three of the albums in the top 40 are retrospectives including 2014's Nothing Has Changed and two 'Best Of' albums.
Others include his iconic The Rise And Fall of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars released in 1972 and Hunky Dory released the previous year.
