David Bowie died on Sunday, aged 69, following a battle with cancer.

Following the death of David Bowie at the aged of 69, after a battle with cancer, many fans have been reflecting on the influence of his music which inspired generations.

We asked ITV News viewers what their favourite Bowie song was - and here are the results of our poll:

  • 1 - Life On Mars?

Coming in first place, this classic Bowie track featured on his critically acclaimed Hunky Dory album - and also provided the soundtrack for the TV drama of the same name.

  • 2 - Heroes

The title track from Bowie's Heroes album was released as a single in 1977.

  • 3 - Let's Dance

Let's Dance was the title from one of Bowie's most commercially successful albums. It was re-released in July 2014.

  • 4 - Starman

Bowie introduced his Ziggy Stardust persona in the early 1970s and 'Starman' was taken from his concept album about an alien rocker, called The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust And The Spiders From Mars.

  • 5 - Space Oddity

Bowie shot to fame in 1969 when Space Oddity was released at a time when the world was transfixed with Apollo 11's journey of discovery.

This song topped the UK charts in 1980, with Bowie describing it as being very much like a "nursery rhyme".
