Chris Moyles' return to the airwaves crashes Radio X app and website
The number of people tuning in to hear Chris Moyles' Radio X debut was so high that the mobile app and website for the digital station crashed on Monday morning.
Listeners complained that they could not hear the breakfast show hosted by the former BBC Radio 1 DJ.
But those who were able to tune in gave an overwhelmingly positive reaction to his return to radio on the rebranded version of Xfm.
Chris Moyles kicked off his debut by playing Girl Aloud's Love Machine, poking fun at Radio X's own claim that the station is "male-focused".
The DJ said: "You're gonna love this haters," and added that "Girls are allowed as men and everybody else."
Noel Gallagher was Moyles' first guest to be interviewed on the new show, with many listeners expressing their enthusiasm on Twitter.
But not everyone was happy with Moyles' appearance on the radio station, with some complaining about the lack of music.
Moyles, who left Radio 1 in 2012, has also launched an ad campaign promoting Radio X alongside his return to the airwaves.
