A collection of motorbikes belonging to former Top Gear presenters James May and Richard Hammond are due to go under the hammer.

It comes as James May has joked about his "unemployment" as his and Hammond's future with Top Gear remains unclear after the BBC sacked presenter Jeremy Clarkson after he punched junior producer Oisin Tymon.

The bikes will be among vintage and collectors' motorcycles going up for auction in the Bonhams Spring Stafford Sale.

May is selling eight machines while four of Hammond's will be up for sale in the auction.

The bikes are valued at between £800 and £18,500.

The auction will take place at the International Classic Motorcycle Show at Staffordshire County Showground on April 26.
