Censors have passed the highly-anticipated film of raunchy best-seller Fifty Shades of Grey without any cuts.

The British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) unsurprisingly made Sam Taylor-Johnson's take on EL James' "mummy porn" favourite an 18 certificate, but said the work had "passed uncut".

The film, which stars Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as his lover Anastasia Steele, is described as showing "strong sex and nudity" as well as "the portrayal of erotic role play".

Some of the BBFC's rulings in the past have been criticised - it caused a storm in November when it gave the new Paddington film a Parental Guidance (PG) certificate for "mild use of bad language and sex references".

However, it later had a change of heart after the film's distributor expressed its unease with the description, which was amended just hours later.
