Foals of racing legend Frankel to sell at Newmarket
Anticipation is high in the racing world ahead of the auctioning of the first foals bred from one of the world's greatest racehorses in Newmarket.
Four foals sired by Frankel, a thoroughbred racehorse who won every single one of the 14 races of his career, will be sold by Tatterstalls, later this afternoon.
Frankel's remarkable record has attracted "hundreds" of interested buyers, from every corner of the world, Tatterstalls said.
The company expect the competition to be fierce, as potential buyers from the UK, Europe, North America and the Middle East battle to buy the offspring of the horse nicknamed "Usain Colt".
Frankel, a thoroughbred trained by racing legend Sir Henry Cecil, is estimated to have earned £2.99 million before retiring to stud in 2012.
