Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has hit out at the England and Wales Cricket Board and Andy Flower, claiming the Zimbabwean has an agenda against him.

Pietersen believes the ECB played dirty PR tricks in an attempt to undermine the ex-Surrey batsman.

Pietersen claims ECB chairman Giles Clarke has "the biggest ego in the whole world of business probably".

"The way the ECB works is it uses the media to get messages out there," Pietersen said in an interview with the Radio Times.

"If the ECB could never get at me - because they knew they couldn't really squash my personality - they would leak story after story to try to get me through the media."

The South African born batsman, believes Flower has taken against him.

"I know where the questioning has come from - it's an agenda against me, against a person who is so desperate to win and cares deeply about English cricket," he added.

"I had a huge issue with Andy Flower for five years," he said.

"I feel that since I tried to tell the ECB he shouldn't be the second in command when I was captain, and I tried to suggest there would have been better options to look after English cricket, in terms of the coaching structure - I didn't think that he was the right man for that job at that time - I think he's had a vendetta against me."

The ECB are yet to comment on the matter.
