The man who was close to tragic Karen
She was a little girl who wanted a normal life. You can't be a superstar and have a normal life.
A documentary set to air this Thursday will examine the death of seventies singing sensation Karen Carpenter. After a long battle with anorexia the star died in her parents' home in 1982 at just 32 years of age.
Today we are joined by John Adrian who dated Karen in the mid-1970s. John worked for A&M Records in London, and after becoming close to Karen they had a fling which he claims was stopped by her management.
Despite their break-up, John became one of her closest friends, and today he will share his fond memories of Karen, as well as first hand accounts of her battle with a disease that would eventually take her life.
