Anne Reid: 'Cabaret makes me feel energised'
A lot of actors hate that, they don't like being themselves... I don't know what that makes me!
BAFTA-nominated actress Anne Reid has a career spanning almost 60 years, but she's showing no sings of slowing down and is about to make her return to stage.
Telling Lorraine why she loves caberet she said, "It makes me feel energised."
She continued, "It should be like you've just had dinner with everybody and then you just get up and sing."
From a Last Tango in Halifax to comedy in Dinnerladies, Reid has had so many great acting roles, we've lost count! But more recently, Anne has turned her attentions to cabaret and music and joins Lorraine to tell all about her starring role in Kings Of Broadway, as well a new film opposite Hollywood heartthrob Orlando Bloom!
The concert celebrates Broadway's heyday and the music of legendary composers.
Reid made her television debut aged 22 on the Benny Hill show, but she became a household name in 1961, when she played Ken Barlow's wife Valerie in Coronation Street.
In the 1990s she swapped drama for comedy teaming up with Victoria Wood in hit sitcom Dinnerladies. In 2003 Anne took on a role opposite Daniel Craig in The Mother, earning her a BAFTA nomination for Best Actress. But after being awarded an MBE In 2010, she went on to have one Last Tango in Halifax.
