How to make the perfect pasta sauce

Whilst most of us know our way around a kitchen and can cook with relative confidence, sometimes it's helpful going back to basics, to pick up better culinary habits and utilise your time in the kitchen effectively, and that's where the Kitchen Basics series comes in...

Using a pinch of sugar and freshly chopped rosemary, Dean's perfect pasta sauce is a fragrant and easy to follow recipe which takes minutes to prepare!

Ingredients

2 cloves garlic, chopped or crushed1 tbsp rosemary, chopped1 red onion, diced400g chopped tomatoes or passataPinch of sugar1 tbsp olive oil for fryingSalt and pepper

Cook the onion for a few minutes until soft over a medium heat, then add the garlic followed by the rosemary, chopped tomatoes, salt and pepper. Finally add a pinch of sugar and add to your preferred pasta.
