Beef and potato pie
There's no better time for a comforting and hearty beef and potato pie.
Ingredients:

1 x 400g pack of short crust pastry2 cloves minced garlic1 diced onion1 peeled diced carrot1 peeled diced stick celery1 large peeled diced King Edwards’s potato,280g lean minced beef,1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce,2 tsp Bovril2 tbsp tomato ketchup1 tbsp plain flour,150 ml beef stockSea salt and ground black pepper1 beaten egg,
Mashed potato and buttered peas to serve
Method:
Brown the mince in a large frying pan with diced carrot, celery, onion and garlic then add the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup and Bovril, mix in well then sprinkle over the flour and cook out for 2 minutes add the stock and diced potato cover with a lid and simmer for around 15 minutes. Remove from heat and cool.
Pre-heat oven to 200c/gas 6 and roll out ¾ of the pastry to a large square shape big enough to line a 8 inch wide spring form cake tin, add the cold mince filling roll out remaining pastry to form a lid and beat egg, brush edges of pastry crimp and seal then brush with egg all over score a cross in middle of lid and bake pie for 25-30 minutes until golden serve with buttered peas and mashed potato.
