Trisha Goddard on her quest for her birth father

We had a guy who did genetics on the show and he said to me, 'there is no way you've got a white father', and I was really angry.

For more than a decade Trisha Goddard ruled daytime TV with her self-titled confessional talk show.

Trisha hits a birthday milestone later this year as she is set to celebrate her 60th birthday, and she's recently announced that she is on a quest to find her birth father.

Growing up in Norfolk with her Dominican mother, white father and three sisters. Trisha said that, looking back, she always knew she was different to them. She said: "I never really felt like I fit in. I looked totally different to my sisters ... I always thought I was mixed race."

It wasn't until Trisha's mother passed away that she found out the truth.

I did have a lot of doubts but finding out that dad wasn't my real dad, yeah it was tough.

Trisha could never talk about the subject with her mother, who always insisted that she shared the same father as her sisters. She said: "I understand why she did what she did. I was angry for a while but once you understand ... she was a fantastic mummy."

Trisha said that she has had doubts all of her life but her mother would always dismiss them. Even when a genetic expert appeared on her show and told her that it was almost impossible for her to have a white father, her mother told her that he 'doesn't know what he's talking about'.

Trisha has been living in the US since 2010 but visits the UK regularly as her family are still here.
