The reason behind Ed Sheeran's unusual baby name revealed

Have you been wondering why Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn named their baby daughter Lyra Antarctica?

Well, our Ross King has been on the case and, with the assistance of his producer, uncovered the real meaning behind the new arrival's unusual baby name.

Ed's a huge fan of Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials, which just so happened to be on television nine months ago. And around nine months ago, it appears he was in a very specific part of the world too.

Ed and Cherry announced the birth of their daughter on Instagram on September 1st.

Ed took to his official account to share a sweet picture of a pair of baby socks and said his wife had given birth to a "beautiful and healthy daughter" in the last week of August.

"We are completely in love with her. Both mum and baby are doing amazing and we are on cloud nine over here," he said.
