Her first role was opposite Robin Williams in Mrs Doubtfire; she also starred in the Christmas remake of Miracle on 34th Street with Richard Attenborough before going on to star alongside Danny Devito as the titular character in Roald Dahl's Matilda.

Now the actress is back with a new book, Where Am I Now?, which documents her life after growing up in the spotlight.

In the book, Mara opens up about losing her mother to breast cancer just month's after completing filming for Matilda, adding that co-star Danny Devito had taken an unfinished version of the movie to her dying mother's hospital bed.

"He showed her an early cut of the movie," Mara said. "Knowing that Danny did that warmed my heart, it meant she was apart of it until the very end."
